Default Caution Please! RPM: Undemocratic actions

This thread was closed before any can respond! http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=45116

Below was my answer and request If it' would please the MyADSL management and give these Left wing Zealots the right of way! please adhere to my request!
I Partook a long time in this Forum before I really got annoyed with the constant abuse against the Afrikaans and White posters here and in the news headlines. This forum have sections where this can be discussed! That made me to decide to show "whoever" the truth of what is happening and at the same time create balance in this forum. It is clear that this truthful campaign has had its effect! Its only fact that the Ministers in their latest budget speeches had the same Rhetoric against the "Settlers" as was apparent on this forum for a long time. If we cannot speak our minds here then Adios!

    Hi RPM:
I understand the issue raised and as raised by many Pro ANC GVT members here. They do not like the negative issues and as that is' what is in the headlines daily due to the situation in this country, I think it is important to highlight them for discussion. If that is not wanted then for the first time I will agree with so many guys advocating closing down the Off Topic section and this forum only stick to Broadband issues. If it's raised so the ANC Zealots gets their way, to gain the privilege of sole ownership of this forum's use, and again bearing down to that everything raised anti GVT, the so called Right wingers in this forum as we are labeled, then please be so kind as to delete my membership as I really do not think I would then like to participate in this false impression of good for the country that was developed here!

    Default "Hand picked news"

Hardly. That is the news!! If there was something positive rest assured we would focus on it. I don't like being negative - WISH I had something positive to say (would really make my day) - but look at it - read the papers; if you only want us to focus on the positive there will be no news - 'cause none of it is positive.

    /edit/ well said pupa

Well we COULD have daily positive posts following our esteemed President's jols around the world. "President Mbeki had tea with the Queen of England" etc etc.

Its a simple request that encompasses everyone regardless of race, religion, creed or operating system - and I agree with it.

pupa : I am not pro ANC (and I suspect neither are many of the people you have an issue with). What we dont like is exactly what RPM said.

...this forum is becoming synonymous with hand picked news from various sites about crime, racism and other negative news regarding South Africa. While we encourage open discussions please refrain from simply positing every article you can find about something negative. It simply becomes counterproductive, especially seen in the holistic view of this forum and what we are trying to achieve.
This is a very fair request

If we can't speak off topic what is foremost on our minds. Then we should close the off topic section asap!!

All those negative stuff in the news is not some figment of our imagination. It is real issues, faced by real people everyday.

Forcing us to ignore them is restricting our freedom of speech.

Now I understand why RPM would not want any negative stuff on this forum. But who decides what is negative and what is not? Some people may even argue that farm murders are for the positive?? SO either let us speak our minds, discuss the topics and refrain from personal insults or close the off topic section and just discuss broadband issues...

No JStrike - a simple thread or two per day will do.

As said - perhaps we should focus on the weather when shopping in Emirates.

I agree with Pupa (I am not a right wing zealot either).

We have also received complaints from members about the fact that this forum is becoming synonymous with hand picked news from various sites about crime, racism and other negative news regarding South Africa.
All news that is picked from various sites is hand picked. Why is most of it about crime, racism and other negative news? - because it is more prevalent than anything positive!

I hate having to open a newspaper, turn on the news or get a newsletter online as most of it is negative, about crime, corruption, rape, murder, racism etc etc etc.

Why should we close our eyes as to what is actually happening around us daily and not discuss it. Are we to take Mr Ncqakula's (sp?) last speech in parliament to heart and stop complaining, go blue in the face doing so or leave this country? I will opt to continue complaining and highlighting these issues and problems until something gets done about it.

It does not mean I am racist, nor does it mean that I am negative about this country, but I will not become a puppet and follow the leader just because it offends a few people. If that is the case, don't read the threads or posts. If there is no interest in these discussions from the rest of the members, I am sure that these "negative" posts will eventually dry up due to lack of interest, but by taking part in the discussions means that it does hold some interest to those who are complaining.

RPM, please don't start censoring what people post and discuss (within reason of course) as you will start losing membership. As far as I am aware, that is what forums are for, discussions. If this forum is for discussing broadband and telecommunications issues only, then do away with the off-topic and all other "non-related" sections.

I realise that some members only post stories that further their agenda or point of view, but as long as they are factual and unbiased stories I don't see the problem with them being posted.

The truth is the truth, besides everyone is free to post uplifting/good news if they want to discuss it with the rest of us.

I am not pro ANC either - but in Pupa's mind you are either pro or anti - anyone who even dares to suggest that the ANC did something halfway ok is a dreaded draadsitter. I am sure the rest of us with rational minds don't live in such a black and white world (in every sense of the expression)

There are political and or news and current affairs forums specific to SA with an active membership comparable to MyADSL? Could you provide links?

Jstrike the source of most of my news here is what is from Mweb main page, I do not go and handpick the bad news, in fact yesterday I posted a news issue where I asked if we see a trend for the better. So I agree if we can find ANY good developments we will post it, If we cannot then that is an representation of the current situation. Tibby can easily comment and advise with his "inside" knowledge of the ANC what can alter the "suggestion" but all he could come up with was some extreme and stupid comments not unlike the Ministers in their budget speech. So then if this "handpicking" produce false accusations or spread the untruth close off topic down! if it fairly represents the current situation and not as the GVT wants the false impression of well being then, unfortunately that's how it is. We all wish we can like in NZ only talk about the flowers and the one baby that was abused that made their National news. How great would it be, but reality is, IT IS NOT! So please if you do find the tons of good news PM me the link and I will be willing to discuss that too! Thanks Yours only!

Ed this was discussed before many time, Remove the off topic, news and other participating sections of this forum if this is not to be discussed. This is an active forum and public participation is invited. If this becomes a broadband only forum, there is better ones than this about the topic. I will then reduce myself to an avid "ZAR good news only on broadband issues" reader and do not need to be a member of this forum.
