On the flip side, hopefully got a Nexus 7 on the way next week. That I am looking forward to

If you need apps only available on iPad then that is a valid reason to get one. For photography iPad is king for sure. Fortunately I have Photoshop (PS Touch) on my SGT to do most things, and my wife's iPad is around for Filterstorm and Snapseed.

I thought about it, but iOS is iOS. Does the same stuff whether 2 or 3. To pay nearly double what I paid for better screen did not justify it. Especially when the GST10.1 will remain my go to tab.

But ye - looking forward to some Red Alert action on it

I will have to check dude. App did not interest me much so never noticed. Will dig out that episode a bit later when I fire up the Roku2 and report back.

For photography and creative use isn't the retina screen actually exactly the reason to get the new iPad and not the iPad 2?

If it were for professional use, then Ye. And if the wife gets hooked on the app then I may revisit the idea of the new one. For now, the 2 will suffice.

Yes, that sounds like it. Where you can animate one part of the pic or something. My wife and daughters dig their photography stuff and thought that app was just too cool.

Merc, that's why Apple sees Samsung as such a big threat ... and Samsung have put their target on Apple.

Looks more and more like these two horses are running away of the rest.

well the new one has a few extra bells and whistles apart from the screen that the ipad2 doesn't, like tethering and voice dictation, but there will be even more once iOS 6 is released.

Thanks. I'm a sucker for a good photo app.

There was a time when my SGT10.1 gathered dust (only worked on iPad 1 and 2). But then I entered the wonderful world of rooting and custom roms ... now my SGT is a geek's dream come true. Running Jelly Bean ... not stable yet but that is part of the fun. Note is always around when things go bad. Had a few close shaves ... at one point I honestly though I had a bricked paper weight on my hands but I "somehow" got life back into the thing. That's the fun ... going where few others have gone. I often get teased at work with: "what cake is running on your tablet today?"
