Sorry guys was on my phone nd typing on these bloody touchscreens
Ok the MSAN is in Fourways, my god you want to see inside this thing??
The actual thing is plugged in and working already. I saw and heard it.
They have been working on this thing for months.

I spoke to an Indian guy, seemed very clued up.
Was writing down numbers while another guy was calling them out.
He said you can "subscribe" to the service (not sure what that means)
He said anywhere up to 40mb depending on location and distance. I am not even 100m away

Will take photos when I can

    I hope.

I think what he means is that you can apply for the 20/40mbps service should your exchange support it.

OR what he means is that you can apply (beg) telkom to put an MSAN in your area so you can apply for it.

anyway good luck running your 40mbps lines with a cap, unless telkom introduces 40mbps uncapped service.

I am sooo badly waiting for them to do Constantia Western Cape (DSLAM 021 794 xxxx)... does anyone have any idea about this area??? We are on the Wynberg "Main" exchange. Loads of DSLAMs from Wynberg have been ADSL2+ upgraded but not ours yet

I can also confirm this, we have a brand spanking new MSAN installed just a few hundred meters from my house. I live just across from The Design Quarter in Fourways and on Tuesday evening about 10 Telkom techies were activating the ports on the MSAN.
My connection went down for a few minutes then came back up with drastically improved attenuation and SNR margin numbers.

I previously had 40-45 attenuation which means I was about 3.5KM's away from the exchange at Montecasino. My attenuation is now 5! SNR margin went from 6 to 12 and the attainable rate is no 26Mbps.

I spoke to a techie who offered to put me on a trial when they announce the new service on the 20th of August. The trial will run in select areas for 3 months I think and it will be 20/40Mbps depending on the quality of the copper from your house to the nearest MSAN.
My capped TelkomInternet connection now syncs at full 10Mbps when previously I could only sync at 7Mbps.
    Can't wait for August!!

FTFY - you cannot be connected to a DSLAM via a MSAN.

Well, isn't 40Mbps outside the scope of ADSL2+? In that case you'd need a new VDSL modem to run the 40Mbps service.
