yep , but a normal adsl modem can do 20mps at least.

you would want a very good adsl modem to sync stable at that speeds.

The MSAN near my house just got activated today...loads of Telkom technicians around (Around 15 of them)
Went and spoke to them and must say a very friendly bunch of people who are well clued up on what's happening.
Had a conversation with the Project manager, they said the area will be upgraded to 10mbps tonight.
At the end of August they will upgrade it again to 40Mbps [VDSL].( just depends on telkom i.e. - if they have a new product offering or a price increase on the existing top end package.)

My line speed is 10015 kbps download from the router stats.
just did an international speed test and getting 8.74Mbps download and 0.82 upload.

Just called the project manager (took his number when I spoke to him and he called me later on to tell me that my line has been upgraded and to test it) he says he is not sure at present. Only some areas in Sandton are within the pilot phase.
When I spoke to him, he mentioned that randburg is the next area they will be upgrading.

Where does this apply in Lonehill? I am in Lanzerac and can't get over 4mbps for some reason.

    thought it was mentioned before:
    http://mybroadband.co.za/news/broadb...-revealed.html

FWIW I fall under the Benmore Gardens exchange and have just got upgraded so it seems accurate. Since then no new info has come out from telkom about MSANS in different areas.

Some exchanges are being upgraded to, not just the street MSANs.
