Apparently not. It is based on but is using PSGL if I remember correctly, that is more of OpenGL ES not just OpenGL (??)

Gabe/Rob is going to cry at PSN for not allowing steam

"In the hope to punt" what? Now I can't even get a coherent sentence out of you. Two industry insiders criticise Win8 and you still haven't posted anything except bluster to gainsay either of them. Someone has the temerity to actually post one of the utterances here and you're into the thread like a shot, get called out and now everyone else but you is the fanboi?

Well I can tell you my RasPi (when it finally arrives) will not fall into that category. Sure as hell wouldn't want it my my Nexus. I guess some folks are quite looking forward to it on their MS Surface tablets though, seeing as that is what the new interface is all about?

On the plus side though, one consequence of the recent HTC vs Apple court case has been that the S3TC patent (S3 texture compression) appears to have been judged invalid in the US. That is something that has been holding graphics back for years on Linux, and something that DirectX does very well. Would be good if Silicon Graphics would clear the air about the floating-point compression patent now, because it was added to Mesa 8.0 but disabled by default. There's also Mesa Support For OpenGL Geometry Shaders, which means OpenGL is a bit closer to having the complete 3.2 spec.

Before I forget, Pr⊕phet, you'll be happy to know that Richard Stallman is not happy about Steam coming to Linux.

To get back on track, here's some more discussion on Gabe Newell's comments, this time on The Reg. It's quite a few paragraphs, but it basically comes down to this; do we give more credence to Gabe (who might be a bit of a fuddy-duddy since he worked for MS some time ago) or does Sinofsky have it right and the pundits wrong?

I am quite skeptical of the last paragraph in which the claim is made that the whole 3rd party dev ecosystem will collapse if a big player like Valve is lost to it. I think it'll come down to how well Windows App Store works out.

Hehe, well going to play with the MSS when it arrives and when Win 8/Pro RTM finally sticks out its head. Then we will know the power of if it if any

    my eye caught this part

Metro user interface and ARM processor support in Windows 8.
windows 8/PRO is mistaken for RT. Again. Sigh.

    windows 8/PRO is not RT.
    RT is ARM.
    Win 8/Pro is not.

Doesn't seem that Gabe is the messiah after all
