    Exclamation help needed!

    Hi

I just finished a build (still a noob though )

    here's the mobo:

    http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pro...uID=24&LanID=0

    cpu:

    http://ark.intel.com/products/33925/...800-MHz-FSB%29

old i know but this is a second pc that i plan on using just for streaming and maybe video chat

anyway i installed everything and turned it on.... and bingo it starts up and i see the first screen on oy lcd prompting me to hit F1 (it also said cmos battery dying or something to that extent)

so i enter F1 and being the noob i am i select standard settings and F10 (save and exit)

now here were the problem comes in....

the pc starts up but now i dont see the display, the lcd just say no signal
it worked the first time and now everytime i start it up it the monitor (lcd) doesnt pick up...

i changed the cmos battery, restarted no luck.... i also checked all the connection on the mobo and all seems good, the pc itself starts up and i can see the lights and fan working (hdd as well) but just not the display.

    can you guys help ?

also and please dont nail me for this .... i think that one of the clips on the cpu heatsink might not be 100% clipped in the other three are though and yes i did use thermal paste... it does seem quite flat against the cpu though so maybe its not that...

ok flame away i learn best by trial and error so this wont be the first pc i broke hopefully its the last though

    Default

Most likely your motherboard isn't getting past the POST process and something's holding it up. Usually the RAM needs to be reseated and it should boot up again. Occasionally there's also the chance that there's some fault with the board and something failed after the first boot. So if you have a spare LGA775 board with the G31 or G41 chipset lying around you could put in just the CPU and RAM and boot off that to make sure the CPU is working.
