Is it just me or does this feels like a 2003 product!?
More like 2001, Telkom offering you a high availability, state of the art High speed Internet Connection. Terms and Conditions Apply.
1GB Data limited to 512Kpbs. Oh and lets not forget your soul
Typical Mentality of a monopoly, why would anyone choose this service over a Cellular Provider?
I think its for people who are in isolated locations.... but ye, I was under the impression this product existed already.

Telkom is just recycling an old product.
These articles date back to as far as 2001:

Eishhhh
Why not just round it off to R7000upfront installation fee of R6,914.24
Or does a figure like that say "we really, really did our sums and tried our best to save you the R85.76, giving you really great value for money"![]()
the R499pm doesnt sound so bad... i know its only 512Kbps and 1Gb data.... but considering the userbase its meant for, rural community and farmers out in gramadoelas with no other means to connect, it does offer a solution.
but the 24month contract and big installation fee, is quite stiff....
we have one production guy out in the sticks in karoo area, surrounded by mountains, not even GPRS, just bad plaaslyn, which isnt even good enough for dialup modem, so he has to drive to town to use data modem to get emails... this could work for him.
but... i'm sure if he can wait a while longer, technology will catch up even to his area, and some corporate co will come do wireless links that he could use, for better value than this.
At the end of the game, the King and the pawn go back into the same box
If you live so far out that you cannot be connected to an exchange and cellular data wont work, then I dont think access to the internets is your top priority.
plus, who on earth would pay 7K plus 500 bucks for the next few months just for some internet?
There is a place in the market for this. Probably the same rason why I had to buy myself a BGAN terminal. Don't use it often, but it works everywhere!
Vodacom: South Africa'sLeadingFollowing Cellular Network!
