    But you wouldn't have run a disk check on it? You know, like the one that you can run through command prompt on your PC? That should fix it from what I understand of the problem.

    I will try that, but it is unlikely as the firmware is apparently not stored on the hard drive.

    It is a nand flasher - a bit of soldering involved and a progskeet oor teensy development board and maybe, just maybe I can restore 3.55

    So the new blue ray unit came today. Installed it and the PS3 works again as it should. Partserve wanted R1400 for a refurb unit. I bought a new replacement part from eBay @ $24 and paid R30 import duty. Saved about R1150 by doing it myself.
