You should google her names and find out. She was the vice chancellor of UCT, she was MD of the world bank, she single handedly nearly eliminated child malnutrition and mortality on rural tzaneen with her Ramphele centre that provided inoculations, nutritional information and helped people grow veggie gardens, etc all at the height of apartheid when the Nats banished her to the bundus to shut her up.

Ramphele compared the country unfavourably to Asian nations who she said appointed experts as ministers.
    Thank you!

Being saying that for ages. Why can't qualified people with at least one tertiary qualification be placed in all the key positions of government, or a strong track record in the field of expertise that fits the job.
Finance Minister, B.Com, CA; Education, B.Ed, Teachers Diploma, etc.

Why do we have to settle for less, it is our money, why can't we insist on the right people for the job. The country's prosperity is all of our futures and if Government is run properly, the wheel turns creating the cash flow this country needs so desperately. It is really not that difficult.

Imagine if the top echelon of Murray and Roberts were employed and given the current housing budget, within a decade or two there would be no housing shortage and decent homes, not the RDP rubbish that is being built today.
The point is, run Government like a business.

Finally, someone among the idiots is beginning to consider the impossible. And they took almost 20 years to realize this. WTF Mentally handicapped - anyone?

Tokyo Sexwale wants to run the country as a business. He and Mrs Ramphele should hit it off. Two people with brains they actually use

Tokyo is busy not running human settlements as a business. He promised in a whirlwind of hot promising to hold builders and officials accountable for shoddy work and corruption but it was all hot air.

    Talk is cheap.

    Actions speak louder then words.

How many times has the education department changed hands and curriculum since 1994? Every 5 years someone new comes in and shakes it up and nothing progresses but it gets worse. Minister wants new text books and they get printed then they get moved and the new minister wants something else so the old books get shredded and new get ordered and then they get shafted and the books get shredded and the new minister wants books and so the circle continues.

I don't care whether she's known or what she's known for ... she's made a statement of truth against the doctrine of her own political structure.

    She deserves acknowledgement.

    Ever wondered why?

So all the tendertrepeneurs/consultants can benefit from the curriculum and book change. Must be worth Billions each time.

Sounds sick, but that is what the ANC has become, not a care in the world for the children, as long as I am OK stuff the next person, their kids are at a private School anyway.

Once the dust has settled and everyone has made their money, I bet the curriculum that will be eventually adopted will not differ much from what we had, maybe the standard will be set a bit lower, but it will basically be the same, except with the "right" version of the subject, South African History.

A generation lost, poor education, cannot find a job, lose hope.....

I had a thought....who leaked the information in The Limpopo textbook blame game?
Reading the article it isn't clear what is going on. What is glaringly obvious is the budget was slashed from 581Million to 261Million, quite a significant chop in the budget, that had to hurt someone in the chain. Secondly, this Edusolutions, they claim to be the middle man between Government and the suppliers, who coordinate, pay for and deliver these books to the Schools, but claim they are not responsible for any wrongdoing.
Read in-between the lines and you have an unhappy tendertrepeneur.
Sounds like someone spilled the beans to get paid?
