    Is there a way to save a word or other type of document onto a home screen on the galaxy s3?

    you want to have an icon on the homescreen that opens up a specific document?

    do you have an office suite installed?

    Not even sure you can make a shortcut to it let alone save the entire file there. Best I can imagine is creating a shortcut to the folder in which said document is stored.

    You can create a shortcut with ES File Explorer. Select the file, long-press on it, then select "Shortcut". It will create a shortcut on your home screen.

    Tested on my stock S3.
