Are banks selling your information?

I got a call like that the other day. They don't even use a private number anymore.

I got a missed call, so I phoned back later thinking it was a client and it turned out to be a pre-recorded voice.

I listened for 2 secs before putting the phone down.

Do they really think people will actually buy from these services, shame!

I also got that... I was very annoyed but since rejecting it I have received a lot less sales calls.

Banks? For sure! I mean as soon as there were steady income coming to the bank acc, there was a lot of store cards in the post (just come in with your ID and get all the stuff you want). How did they even get details if not from banks?

Bull****. I only started getting store cards, random phone calls from telemarketers, etc, after I signed up for my credit card.

And I most certainly did NOT tick any boxes saying it's okay for them to give out my details to anyone they like.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that on Cell C's mytools I can redirect private numbers to voicemail straight away with a custom message saying I don't accept calls from private numbers

While reading this topic, I got a whatsapp message from someone trying to loan money to me.
That was a first!

Not just the banks mind you, I recently had to deal with an insurer for a burst geyser and since they got my details I've been raking in the spam.

Just like the cell companies (or employees) do not sell RICA information ...
