    Default I need a new graphic card for R2000 to R2200 !

Hello people. my graphic card burned out and I am in for a new one. I have just over R2000 and a friend at work said I should buy this one: http://www.phoenix-tech.net/SA/msi-a...hics-card.html
Unfortunately it is sold out and it does not look like they will get some more. At RebelTech it is sold out too. What should I buy and from where?

If you can get that graphics card for under R2000 then go for it!

Unfortunately that graphics card seems to be end of life - or at least I don't see it listed at any reputable online computer shops in SA any more.

I've never heard of Phoenix-Tech before.

Rather get from a more known online store such as NGR Computers or Rebel Tech. The 6870 is still a decent card, got mine 1, 2 years ago for R2500 so you should easily get it for R2200 or lower today.

If you get yourself a Geforce 560 / 560 Ti it will equal if not surpass the 6870 in performance.

    These cards are in stock:

    http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php...roducts_id=879

Otherwise email Nick at nick@ngrcomputers.co.za and he should be able to source a card for you.

Thank you. You are the man. Which one of the 2 is a bit better/faster? And is Rebeltech ok? Never dealed with them.

Here you can also find the 6870, for R2k

    and more expensive:

but yea, as was mentioned the Nvidia equivalent is somewhere between the Geforce 560 and 560 TI. The 6870 as far as i can see from benchmarks is above the 560 , but slightly below 560 TI , pricing will also point this out

The 6870 is slightly faster than the 560. Rebel Tech is very decent.

I'd hold your horses for a bit there. The GTX660 is out near the middle of next month and will push down pricing of the existing GTX560Ti and even the GTX560 down even further. At this stage I'd not recommend getting a GPU with 1GB of RAM for a high-end rig, since I'm getting hints from developers that they're beginning to program for 2GB of RAM as the baseline for performance.

If you're still keen on a card, these are still solid options for playing games at 1080p with little to no AA applied:

Leadtek GTX560 1GB DDR5 @ R1827 (the last batch of reference cards, highly overclockable)
    Gigabyte GTX560OC 1GB DDR5 @ R2036
Any HD6870 1GB, they're great performers especially with Catalyst 12.6
    Gigabyte Radeon HD6950 1GB DDR5 @ R2395

I included the HD6950 because its still everything that you'd ever ask for in a GPU. It overclocks superbly and performs better than the GTX560Ti and is generally on par with the GTX570 in some scenarios. If you can afford the extra cash and are impatient, that's the one I'd go for.

YGPM, didn't want to link to another forum's classifieds
The very existence of flamethrowers suggests that at one point someone said to them self, "You know, I'd really like to set those people over there on fire."

Thank you everyone. Nice getting help when one needs it. I have decided to go with the Gigabyte Radeon HD6950 1GB DDR5 @ R2395 It seems to be one of the best of the HD6950's without bothering to mod/overclock and lose the warranty.
