    Default Cancelling MTN Direct contract within 5 days

    My girlfriend decided to get a contract with MTN as they had a nice cheap deal, applied online with MTN Direct.

    Was asked if she wanted to port her number number which she did. Eventually get the phones and the contract is not the one she applied for and the number was not ported either.

    Basically MTN Direct screwed her over, been trying to sort it out but they refuse to port the number as "it must be done before you get the SIM". No duh.

    Seeing as trying to sort it is a waste of time she decided to cancel the contract within the allowed time, except not a single person can help her with that, amazing how if you want a contract you can get it in hours but if you want to cancel it not a soul can help.

    Anyway, my question is does anyone know what number exactly to phone to reach a semi-competent person that can help?

    Also is there a MTN representative on the forum? You need to explain this pathetic service.

    Hi, MTNSP is 808 and MTN Direct should be 083 123 3667. If that does not work contact your local MTN Service Center (if you are lucky enough to live near one).

    Go there personally, stand on your rights, record your conversations with them (as you can't count on them to record what they have promised to do). Just inform them that you are recording them to keep it legal.

    Legally you are entitled to cancel within 7 days (according the contract you signed / agreed to), but unfortunately you need to fight for that right.

    Start by phoning 808 tonight and ask them where your nearest Service Center is and how you can cancel. Get a reference number and the name of the person who helped you.

    We eventually came right. Quite sad how pathetic their service is. I hope this is not how MTN is in general but rather just confined to MTN Direct.

    been with them for round about 12 years and all i can say is dont get your hopes up
    Odly i still havent learned
    Some times the internet is so slow, it would be faster to just fly to Google's headquarters and ask them this $h1t in person.!
