The reason people have an issue with the price is that you can have a 4mb uncapped all inclusive package from Afrihost for R697 and dl about 350GB-400GB without being throttled and only R98 more. With a 2mb account you should be able to dl about 200GB-250GB. so if you look at both then you can get about 200GB-250GB more for only R98 and you can stream most of your stuff without buffering.

2 Meg is double the speed, likely increasing their network usage by a good 20-30%,it's not quite as simple as just "flicking" a switch and instantly the world is twice as fast. Telkom is providing the infrastructure,in areas where these upgrades are being done they already have the cables installed, irrespective of what speed you are using,in fact it provides them a better ROI if you upgrade because the utilization increases which means more bandwidth bought

    I wish

Would it be nice for them to just double everybody's speed everytime there's a speed increase? Sure. Is it financially viable to just do that? Not really

Will be interesting what price they set for the 2meg option, and also how they do the throttling too....Cause +- 200gig on a 2meg line would be so worth it if its gonna cost me say R100 cheaper than the mweb option

I don't MWEB are 'sleazy' at all. Always been happy with them, and their bandwidth.

As mentioned before though, I was really hoping the 2 mbps would be R299!

Is mybroadband.co.za owned by the same parent company as MWEB because I see they have the same annoying pop-up for "market research" as MWEB does each time that you clear your browser cache.

This. But bitching because it's not? No. Will have to trim some expenses elsewhere should I decide to have 2Mb (when Telkom upgrades me one day).
