I would only switch to linux for gaming if my ENTIRE steam collection will work. Otherwise - I will keep my windows rig.
So, now they found their games work faster on Linux, will other game developers be following their footsteps?
Average joe gamers using linux? Really? I...don't see that happening. I can see it becoming a strong gaming platform though if more devs like Steam get on board.Personally I believe the hard core gamer will use Windows OS with his bleeding edge hardware, but the average joe is using older hardware that is well supported under Linux.
Well I think Steam is starting to move their collection to Linux because of according to Valve CEO Gabe Newell that "Windows 8 is a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space. I think we’ll lose some of the top-tier PCs, and OEMs who will exit the market. I think margins will be destroyed for a bunch of people. If that’s true, then it will be good to have alternatives to hedge against that eventuality.” I work on Linux at work and its awesome. We will just have to see. I mean why wait until now to start moving games to Linux.... Seems strange.
