I took a walk the other day, and noticed that our local reservoir can be opened. It would be interesting going in with a flashlight when it's empty...

"Large areas of the Southern Part of the municipality will be affected, including Summerstrand, Walmer, Lorraine, Newton Park, Charlo, Central, Sidwell, Deal Party, Algoa Park, Struandale, Gelvandale, Gelvan Park, Lovemore Heights, Lovemore Park, as well as parts of New Brighton and Kwazakhele,” he said.
Heard about this earlier... we were busy discussing the fact that all our dams are over 100% full and that is more rain on its way!

It's not advisable to drink the reservoir water unless you boil it first.

A mainline waterpipe carrying water from one of the bigger dams to the city has burst. It supplies water to about a third of the city.

Two pipes. A 700mm steel one and a 1000mm concrete pipe dating back from the 1940s.

There are some major industries in the affected areas... factories will have to shut down until the water supply is restored.

    None.

    1) Ageing infrastructure
    2) Significant water pressure exacerbated by near-flood conditions
    3) No preventative maintence

Hopefully algoa blasts it the whole day tomorrow so people at work can spread the word to conserve the water! Thanks for the list of areas.

Has anyone experienced DTS - dry tap syndrome - yet? I heard the local fire brigade was spotted filling their tanks at the newly formed lake on the Sea View road in an effort to conserve water supplies. Bravo to them if it's true.
