Default External HDD crazy, please help.

    Hi guys.
I have a 500GB LG external HDD, since yesterday whenever I connect to pc it says I need to format. However when I connect to my LG Blueray player it pics up and I can access all the media. Could you please advise how I can access via PC. I'm running Win7 64bit. I have tried data recovery software but nothing works the drive is partitioned into a 400gb and 80gb, I can however see the 80gb. Any advice?

Not sure if you are able to but try to run a scan disk on it.

Try it on a PC running Linux, if your DVD player can access the drive then I'm reasonably sure it will work.

Not sure if you solved this, but this helped me this weekend on a windows 7 laptop drive. http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk plugged the drive into my pc, then scanned it, it found what file system used to be there, then wrote the data back to the drive. All the data was back. , The windows 7 disk was then able to to fix the booting of the drive. Previously it said there was no operating system installed, and in the boot repair it could not find a windows partition. AND ITS FREE..........
