Thread: Moving from prepaid to contract? Lose your unused data.

Default Moving from prepaid to contract? Lose your unused data.

I got a new Vodacom contract today (finally got my HTC One S! Yay!), and as I wanted to keep my prepaid number they did some magic to put that number on the contract. In the excitement, though, I forgot that I had a 100Mb data bundle that was only a few days old, and about R40 or so in prepaid credit - which is now gone Admittedly it's partly my fault for not asking what happens to that, but they didn't bother to mention that I'd lose everything either, so it's their fault too.

So if you're going to move from prepaid to contract, keep that in mind

Edit: Unless (grasping at straws) there's something I've missed? Some separate balance amount I should be checking?

Hello Cath. Yes...unfortunately remaining airtime and (dont quote me on this cause I am not 100% sure) data bundles on prepaid will not carry over to the contract as it runs on a seperate billing engine. If I am not mistaken, prepaid airtime will carry over if you go onto a Top Up contract as it utilizes the prepaid billing engine unlike the other contracts.

Sorry for sounding so uncertain..but I mainly deal with corporate contracts and not prepaid...but I remember this roughly from my days of working in the store.
Now why you loer en kyk gelyk?
Is ek miskien van goud gemake?

Thanks Ockie - that makes sense from technology standpoint, but from customer standpoint it sucks

I would have gone ahead with it anyway, even if they had told me, since I've been wanting this phone since mid-June. But it would have been nice to know in advance, so I could prepare myself
