Hi everyone. Been a long time mybb reader but thought that it's about time I joined the community and started contributing. I've always been a tech fan and mybb has generally been one of my first stops when trying to resolve an IT issue or even just for research. However what was once very occassional browsing of the forums has changed into a daily following over the past few months since I upgraded from a curve 8520 to a galaxy S2 and discovered the world of android. Since then i've also gotten myself a galaxy tab 10.1.

My newest toy is a raspberry pi (loaded openelec and hooked it up to my tv). The next thing I want to do is get myself a decent wifi router - but I haven't decided yet whether to go for an adsl (hate the thought of having to deal with telkom) or 3g router (currently on 8ta prepaid -good value but network speed too inconsistent).

Just a random thought I had this morning: if all the knowledge contained in the mybb forums were converted into a wiki, how awesome would that be!

True that... the home page would be a black screen and all you'd see are 2 pills - a red one and a blue one

Are you in a position to get ADSL (do you have a phone line)? If so then rather go for that and get an ADSL with 3G failover.

Thanks for the advice. Nope, I don't have a phone line, but need to get one now as I'm no longer a bachelor and the Mrs has requested one.

I'm considering getting a prepaid Neotel phone so as to avoid letting telkom own my soul. In the long run though I guess I'm eventually going to have to let myself become one of their victims

The only real reason I haven't done it already is I couldn't stomach paying a line rental for a phone I didn't need just to get adsl. I'm having flashes of high installation costs, long waits, billing issues, deathly slow speeds and unhelpful "support" staff.

*sighs in acceptance of his fate*

On a more positive note ICS should be coming to my tab this month and I've mysteriously got more than my usual 250mb of data allocation on my cellc active chat contract - showing 278mb at the moment... I wonder if cellc had suddenly started data rollover!

Enjoying my first hour or so with it. Only gripe so far is that I wish the it had infinite scrolling within the threads instead of static pages. Other then that its awesome and quite snappy.
