Thread: Pool owners, a poll please: next house, with a pool or without?

Default Pool owners, a poll please: next house, with a pool or without?

You're looking for a new house and you have the choice of a pool or not. Do you want the pool (and the maintenance)?

    No.

Nope! A hot tub but not a pool.

Unless you really, really, really like swimming.

Yes , it's very easy but the chlorine is getting expensive.

Nope. Not unless you've got younger children who will use it frequently or plan to use it frequently yourself. Otherwise it's just a big waste of time and money.

It's a lot of effort keeping the pool in good condition, and the pumps also draw a fair bit of electricity.

I never use the pool,it a biatch to look after. Just rather ask yourself if you want a pool? Would you use it?

    Let me qualify my "no".

It will depend on your location and the climate.

Does the pool add value to the property as a feature? i.e. is it unusual or custom built, typically a rock pool or a pool with a wet bar?

Do you have kids who will use the pool? If it is just you and your SO and you hardly use it, then it is a needless expense and a serious time waster.

Not to mention space. When people cover up their pools, you'll often hear they did it because the space it wasted didn't wasn't justified by the use it got.

Definitely not! Great for young kids, but those are (very) far off

Sit down and ask yourself: will i make use of the pool or not? Then make your decision. No point having a pool you won't make use of.

I'd either go for a small pool or just a jacuzzi.

    Yeah...

It won't be a massive pool, but a useful sized pool

As a first time home buyer who has never had a pool at my previous and current abode, love swimming, have small kids and love to entertain.

I guess that would place me in the minority in this thread who would say YES.

Definately. They are easy to maintain. But get a proper sized pool - one you can dive into - not one of those "standing room only" jobs.

For kids yes, all other cases no.
