Crunching the numbers suggests that perhaps this is an exception:

    Normal 384k line R165
    Promotion R169

    R4 difference x 24 months = R96.

R96 for a modem, 120 gigs and installation. Score.

I might actually got for this - need ADSL at my new place.

Assuming that someone (not me) does sign up for a whole 24 months, what will their monthly subscription fee be on November 1st (one day after the promotion has come to an end)?

Good question. Maybe thats why my above calc seemed a little too good to be true.

Telkom highlighted that this promotion is subject to signing a 24 month contract

A two year contract? Looking at how far we've gotten with ADSL in the last two years, does anyone really want to be stuck on something like this two years from now?

Why, do you expect ADSL rental to drop?

I get the 24 month argument with data, but this is line rental...you know...the one the just *increased*.

Will this 384 be upgraded to 1024 when the October upgrades come into effect? At what price?

    R169 per month + line rental (R132?)

I'm currently on Telkom Prepaid (waya waya) and have 8ta 10GB i5 bundle At R199pm.
Not cost effective, unless they allow adsl on prepaid

I reckon if the exchange supports it then yes, looks very attractive at that price point.

    +1 to Telkom imo
