The wife gave birth and in came all the medical expenses.

    Hospital R18492

Gynaecologist who delivered the baby R4960

    Anaesthetist
    R 2,201 "GP"
    R 3,910 "GP"
    R 4,348 "Obstetrics And Gynaecologist"

The Anaesthetist has three claims. Two under GP and one under Obstetrics And Gynaecologist. Is this normal for it to cost R10459 which is 57% of the hospital costs? This was sort of a straight forward procedure apart from the fact that the injection the Anaesthetist gives didn't work on one side for the wife.
One of those gp could have been the paed as well,

In terms of billing depends how they got it structured. Usually the anaesthetist comes induces anaesthesia that would be one charge. The next would be the charge of the reversal of anaesthetics and the final would be the post -op 48 hour surveillence stand by they do. Depends how the hospital is structure if its their anaesthetist or another Dr, then the hospital will charge him for theatre time and equipment usage which the Dr will no doubt bill you for.

Too many variables and too little information supplied. The best thing is to phone the Dr and ask why if you really want to know but its pointless, you have to settle the difference.
