Thread: SIII or Moto Razr opinion

Default SIII or Moto Razr opinion

    Hi all,

I have the option of getting a Samsung Galaxy SIII or the Motorola Razr as per Vodacom.

I would like to know which of the two phones you would suggest/prefer based in the below requirements.

    My requirements are as follows.

    1) Will be studying Software Development in the near future, so the phone that is best suited to Software Dev from a support side would be first choice. Provided one can do/offer mobile support with only a phone...

    2) Busy teaching myself Joomla! and Application Development. I need to set up a fairly intense site hopefully by years end and would most likely need to do mobile site and App support with the phone. Again if it is possible.

    3) General phone stuff - i.e. calling, text, whatsapp, e-mail, etc, etc.

    Thanks in advance,

    Finch

    For 1 and 2 - S3
For 3, the RAZR will be good enough

These two phones are hardly competing in the same price range so its an easy win for the S3 if price is not an option.
    Will work for peanuts

Price range is not the first concern.

My primary concern is the functionality of the phone/s. If they can both do what I am envisioning then the Razr wins. If the SIII can do more and better(read easier, more functionality WRT my requirements, etc) then I'll take the SIII.

The SIII has a bigger screen and better hardware, it also has ICS(Android 4.0) and it will also be getting Jelly Bean (Android 4.1). The RAZR is lacking official ICS in South Africa.

Ok SIII it is then. Pointless getting something that isn't properly supported.

The RAZR will receive ICS, it is just slow You can get custom ROMS, that is why I said lacking offiicial, still in beta last I checked :/ But ya if you have the money go for the SIII (It is better in many ways)

SIII without a shadow of a doubt, even an SII would be better than a RAZR. At this point if you want the best Android has to offer, go for a high end Samsung and you'll be sorted.

The SIII should be in the same league as the razr HD

So if your choice is the SIII or razr, then SIII should be the choice hands down.

Just don't drop! A friend got one 2 weeks ago. He dropped it pulling it out of his jeans pocket. Fell onto the driveway and the glass is cracked from the fall.

Seeing as it's for development and all, I would think the Galaxy Nexus would be a better option than the two.
    Anyway, S3 isn't bad.

Got the SIII yesterday. Nice phone, great screen, video etc... Will be putting the phone through its paces wrt my requirements soonish. Lets see if it can do what I hope it can...

@Mekon. I dropped my last phone on an axe.... Fell out my pocket as I bent over to pull the axe from the chopping block. It fell screen first onto the corner of the blade, sigh..... /facepalm.... Insurance FTW!!!
