Default Nedbank Card will not reverse payment for non-delivery

Ordered and paid for 3 x MK802 microcomputers from Ali-Express on 22nd June. Delivery time guaranteed before 16th July. Had not arrived by 15th July, so submitted claim on supplier's website. No response by 20th July so called Nedbank and asked for transaction to be cancelled. Received statement today, no credit. On enquiring with Nedbank, they say request received too late to process. Upon questioning, they advise must be done within a month. So I say 22nd June to 20th July is under one month. No, am told, must be before the end of June. You are b-shttng me I told him, you cannot make up the rules as you go along. Down went the phone.

    Still no response from Ali-Express

    Contact the Banking Ombudsman...

This is one of the reasons I dislike Nedbank now, they have the most restrictive terms on things...

And it should be a month of working days no? Not calendar days as they do sweet bugger all on the weekends anyway

Have you tried phoning 0800-990-475 if it was a Visa credit card I am assuming that Master Card also has a direct consumer line. Friend had a similar problem and the bank wasn't to keen to help, after phoning Visa customer line the transaction was refunded with in two weeks.

Can you see where did the parcel got stuck? Did they send it by courier? If you knew the parcel has to clear customs, you are rather optimistic to expect it in 3 weeks (not to use the word naive). Did you pay to have it insured during transport/delivery? Keep in mind, some overseas companies do not bother with Africa. (sadly but for obvious reasons). If the bank concluded the transaction, obviously you won't be able to stop it anymore.

In South Africa corruption rules! Therefore, never believe anything the government says - until it is officially denied!

Last time I checked Nedbank does indeed only allow a pathetic 30 days but the average with the other banks are about 120-ish with FNB allowing more than 120.

Give Visa/Marstercard a call imo. It is a shame that you had a bad experience with aliexpress. My previous purchase went through quite smoothly - although the seller did use an alternative courier.
