You have to drive a certain amount of kilometers a month with the specific branding, the advertising space pays the rest of the installment.

I have seen a bunch of these driving around town. Cars for R499 a month with no deposit and no residual. Whats the catch?![]()
what advertising? They advertise themselves, so let's say they put 100 cars on the road at 499 how are they making money? I could understand if the cars were advertising cell c, telkom etc but they are advertising themselves.
Advertising is so poorly done, omg it looks disgusting.
the catch is you driving a piece of kark
Most of them advertise the same deal although I've seen others like Dial Direct and Tata the company.
The advertising is around R2500/month alone so R3000/ month is right.
Advertising is advertising, 100 cars is R250 000 that's the price of a static billboard for 5 months.
And they get a car off the floor.
Insurance? Comprehensive?
So I spoke to someone in town who has done this. This is what he said:
- You get paid to own or paid to drive. He went paid to drive. Basically the more KM`s you do, the cheaper your bill is.. up to R1500 off.
- The biggest schlep of this thing is apparently having to submit the monthly photographs to prove the stickers are on your car.
- He did his through the Just Group, and says everything is done electronically, and he says they are very quick with the payments.
Over all he is happy with his purchase.
Dunno if I will do it, but for many people it is still a good deal.
Yeah, the biggest issue with these "deals" is that you carry the responsibility of the loan in your entirety. You are at the mercy of the advertisers to repay you the discount based on your advertising performance. There are however waaay too many stories of payments being made for the first 3-6 months and then late/non payments become the order of the day.
If you're going to do this, rather drive a mini cooper with a gian red bull can bolted on the back. It's less embarrassing and a better secured deal.
I looked into this as an option to get a car and then I also saw the interest rate is 22% and not 11% that MFC where offering at that time. The guys can at any time withdraw the advertising and then your screwed. Also nearly all vehicles come without warranty and some are demo models.
The risk is too high.
