Default Any good data deals without being locked in to 24 month contract?

    Hi Guys,

I have never been a fan of MTN but recently I have been forced to buy some of their services for my parents as it's the only network they get decent reception with where they live.

Prepaid data prices are so expensive and I don't want to have to pay R149/month for another 2 years. We already have a modem and only need about 2gb/month, is there any deal out there that is at least only 12 months or other discounted bundles like a 24gb one that can be purchased outright?

I am clueless when it comes to MTN so any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

The cheapest deal is 8ta 60GB+60GB for R1800. It's prepaid and valid for 12months. you need to check if your parents have coverage before you can take that deal.

Tried all the networks, Mtn the only viable option.

Have no idea why people would sign a 24 month contract knowing full well that packages and deals are getting better and better daily. In the mean time they will be stuck with overpriced contract signed 1-2 years ago.

Because it's still cheaper than pay as you go.

Because the 2 year contract is cheaper in rand terms than buying pre-paid data for six months. I don't actually care if pre-paid gets a little cheaper in a years time, it's much cheaper on contract right now.

I recall seeing an upgrade special for R129 x 24 for 2 GB per month.

The OOB rates are the same as pay as you go... I don't see your point.

The contract deals are available on topup AFAIK, so no OOB shock if you don't buy extra airtime.
