Default Opinions on HTC Wildfire S please?

This seems to be an Android phone. I need to replace my (junk) phone since a) the speech volume is too soft, b) the incoming call ring is even softer and c) used with a Bluetooth headset it is set to auto-answer but will not.

Seen this phone for R 1700 from Jhb supplier and friend in PE upgraded to one of these but does not like "a phone with no buttons" and she will let me have it for R 1000

Cannot find any stores in Cape Town who stock these. Nashua Mobile in Claremont advertise it but are only prepared to get one from Jhb on confirmation of a contract.

Its quite old now. Outdated hardware, in any sense. See if you can find something newer. I'd search but I'm slightly short on time. I know there was another thread on budget smartphones. Go check that out. You can find other, newer Androids for under R1000.

Have this phone on contract for a few months now. Only took it because it was the cheapest one I could find. It's decent enough for making calls, text messages and photos.

Thanks. Is the ring tone and more important, the speech volume sufficient? I do not care that it might be outdated, since I am also outdated (so my daughter tells me)

The call quality on the HTC Wildfire S is crystal clear & the ringtones + notifications are more than loud enough.

It's a great budget phone and I would definitely buy it for R1000.

*You can even watch DSTV Drifta on it.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 - It is the only phone you will ever need.

For 1000 you could get a 2ndhand Desire. I picked up a Desire HD for 1100 the other day. I've seen SGS1's go for that also and iPhone 3GS's. There are better 2ndhand options.

Load a custom ROM on it from XDA developers, overclock to 700Mhz+ and it will be a great phone for the screen size. Stock, it is quite laggy and frustrating to use.

    Yeah, it's sufficient
    Soz for late reply.
When using the speaker though to chat, I kinda hope it could be louder, but it'd still fine

You can use Volume+ to increase the speaker volume.
