    What is eating my data,

I see a lot of people complaining about data getting eaten up by there pc's and they don't know what the reason is.

Now I had the same problem especially with windows 7.I never could find what is using my data so I install comodo free firewall and o boy does it work great.Yes maybe not the best firewall but it is free and the thing is it shows u what connections are running at what speed( see screen shot).I can just go to define a new block app and put in googleearth.exe .Now if your more nerdy like me when u install it u can select training mode, this makes comodo ask u for every app if it may connect to the internet(takes a lot of time to give every app permissions) it works like a charm for me
I just used google earth as a example.

    ----------------------------------------------------------
I open google earth just to show u how it looks, u can see it started downloading.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

Now all I do is go to firewall, define a new blocked app , under select , I selected from running proses( googleearth.exe) and that will block googleeath from downloading

This is a look of my block list, that comodo has blocked.
stuff like ask.com update runs in the background and updates by it self and never ask for permissions

I hope this helps, if u want to u can get it here it is free

If there is any faults, please do tell ill fix it

Another byte-eater is Liberkey. The guy giving the demo went on and on how better it would work than stolen software, which is true. What he did not say was that Liberkey wants to update programs from time to time. It waits for a free moment, then updates dozens of programs.

During one day in June, Liberkey used 9.3Gb of data, thereby using most of my 10Gb cap in one session.

    I deleted it thereafter

Check out your Microsoft Update settings. Have seen it chew its way through hundreds of MB.

Why block it? That is crapware uninstall it and remove the toolbars. Any app coming with that and don't want to install unless you install crapware should be deleted on site. Use Hijack this to remove its auto updates. Best thing is to run hijack this and post the log.
