Thread: iPhone 4s battery life

    Default iPhone 4s battery life

    Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone can help out, as a past blackberry user, I got pretty used to terrible battery life. Got an iPhone 4s about two weeks ago, only to find its battery life isn't a whole lot better. If it makes it through the day I'm impressed. Have pretty much disabled all locations services, keep 3G off most of the time, toggle wifi on and off as I need it. I just don't know why it is still so poor. Any suggestions??

All that being said though, it is jailbroken, and I do use it quite a lot. Just disappointed as I expected a lot better from apple, considering the battery life of my iPad 2.

    Thanks chaps!

My iPad (2) has had dreadful wi-fi performance since new. In Feb took it to the Apple Shop in Claremont for them to look at. Turned out an off the shelf one would operate 15 metres from the shop in the parking garage, whereas mine stopped at 6 metres. The only tweak is to turn the brightness up full. According to the shop, wi-fi performance is not a warranty issue, so they would not fix it.

Apple Shop in Claremont? That sounds like Project3/Digicape. An independent company.
But still, I would take it to Digicapes main office in town and ask them to replace it. They should do it

Have you turned of Siri and bluetooth as well?

Mine lasts for the day and I am happy with that. I have a car charger and one at the office and one at home, so not to bugged about the battery life.

You're getting an entire day? That's excellent battery life for a smart phone.

Your iPad has a far higher capacity battery...

Yes, as Postman said it is a smartphone, which means the battery will die faster. The same reason your blackberry also has bad battery life. My S2 also last for about 14 hours if I have everything on. If I put everything off I can stretch it to more than a week if I want to, but then, why did I buy this phone. To be connected the whole time. That is the point of smartphones and battery life is the price you pay for it (And your money of course).

I don't use Siri too much, would it still eat so much battery?. Bluetooth is always off...

Siri "lift to speak" or whatever is a battery drain. I get 1.5 -2 days out of my 4S. I have location services on. If you have Tomtom, be sure to close it when not in use.

I have between 30 and 40% battery life left over at 11pm before I charge it again.

Is the JB for OS 5.1.1?
I have screen res setup to 50%, bluetooth off, all app updates and notifications off except FB, Twitter & Whatsapp.
Removed the countries and location setting of the weather app, removed all the stock updates.

Its a 16GB and already 14Gb with apps and music. Quite a heavy user.
