Default PORT FORWARDING & REMOTE VIEWING SETUP FOR CCTV

    To whom it may concern.

Hi guys/girls,If anyone can answer this question for me I would Appreciate it.

I have a client with Iburst Internet connection setup ( not too sure whether it is a USB or a Desk top modem yet, still need to go out to site) I have setup plenty of CCTV systems on various modems over ADSL and with some customer support over Neotel.

This will be the 1st time I will be attempting this on an Iburst system. I need to clarify if the iburst network is an always available service like ADSL or if it is DialUp dependent like GPRs, which then would require a unrestricted APN setup from the service provider. If the later, can I contact the Iburst support for assistance to setup Port Forwarding. Also Is the Iburst internet network set on DHCP or will my client have a Static WAN I.P address.

Thanks again in advance for any assistance.......

iBurst uses a PPPoE connection like ADSL, you do not need an "unrestricted APN" as you do with GPRS/3G.

Port forwarding needs to be done on your client's router.

Normally you get a dynamic IP address. AFAIK, you can apply for a static IP address at extra cost, but I think most people just use a free dynamic DNS service.

Thanks Ginggs. Now I just need to find out whether The client has a desktop modem. Or is using a USB dongle.

Ginggs, you seem to know something I don't. I need to view my DVR on a Blackberry over the MTN (or Cell-C) network but I get blank screens on all the apps as wel as Internet Explorer.
Port forwarding is fine as I can see the cameras from PC's and laptops, even when I tether my laptop to the Blacberry with Bluetooth and then over the 3G network.
I think I need some settings (maybe the APN) but their people don't understand what I am talking about.

chances are you not going to get any decent help over a weekend from mtn - doubt you will get any help in general not sure if you can PM bu look for voldemort on mybb he wrks for MTN and might understand what you need, please be nice he does this on his own and not part of his job at MTN,
Though i think if it worked when tethered but not directly on the phone maybe BB APN blocks the ports used by your DVR?
Some times the internet is so slow, it would be faster to just fly to Google's headquarters and ask them this $h1t in person.!
