Apparently they used muti before striking and considered themselves to be invincible even against bullets.

The fact that we had two dead policemen before yesterday answers your question.

Two policemen were hacked to death, 45 people were shot to death by Police. The Police were ill prepared and lacking in training. They should have been there in full riot gear which would have been able to withstand handgun fire from a handful of guys in the crowd. If the Police had used rubber bullets they would also have stopped the charge but not killed all of those people...

That being said I absolutely despise unions, and hope that they get partial blame for this as well.

I hope this becomes the ANC's Sharpeville...
It's in the rough waters that you quickly notice the presence or absence of the ship's captain. Who is at SA's helm?

Ja, and the rioters should have used rubber spears and rubber machette's too.
If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.

Agreed. And let's not forget that some of the miners were seen brandishing firearms and had used LIVE ammo.

Rubber bullets would also have stopped them dead in their tracks. Just not so "dead". The Police were standing in a straight line side by side straight up. If they were under fire or really threatened they would not have been standing like that.

The cops were not properly prepared for this, possibly because of a lack of proper training.

See my comment above. The stance of the Police shows that they weren't afraid. Besides if a couple of people in a crowd have firearms that doesn't give you the right to slaughter 30 people... Police should be better trained than that.
