Thread: Axxess fair or unfair?

    Angry Axxess fair or unfair?

So I have been with axxess 4meg uncapped account now for 5months and with no major problems except the extreme shaping during the day.

I have been experiencing high pings in the evenings now for the past 3 days thinking the problem is on my side but decided to send axxess a query on my account with the idea that they could help.

Here the reply I got a couple hours later:

    "Hi there

We had a look at your account and see that your account is currently on a two star rating with Internet Solutions. These accounts work on a fair user policy. Thess account are governed by a priority system (like a hotel grading star rating). Internet Solutions will calculate your usage (not inspect your traffic!) on an hourly basis against the average usage across all Uncapped users. If you fall within the top 20% of users (384k, 512k, 1024k & 10240k accounts) or top 50% (4096k account), your traffic priority will be lessened by lowering your star rating on the network, meaning that a user with a higher star rating will have a better experience than you. If there's no congestion (mostly after hours), even a 1-star account can have a good experience. This is because the network is designed to make all available bandwidth accessible to its users.

If the usage on the account can come down for the next couple of days you would be able to get! your star rating back and have better speeds again.

    Regards,
    Cj Fouche"

Here are my stats for the month:

    UserName @axxess-express
    Year-Month 2012-08
Total MB Used This Month 55784.21 MB
Average MB Used Per Day 3099.12 MB
    Account Status Full Access

Using roughly 3gigs a day I can't understand how that is unfair usage?
Now I understand this is more of an IS problem cause of their Star rating but I mean I used to use over 300gigs a month on Mweb with no shaping.

Surely axxess can't keep using the IS Star rating and change like their sister company Afrihost did?

Just some feedback from the all the informed users here would help

    Thanks,
    Jared

P.S. Excuse the grammar errors it's late on a friday night and it's been a long week.

Looks like they are confused in thinking that you have a 1024k account. Ask them to confirm your account details.

If they confirm it as a 4096k account, then it's time to move on.... back to Mweb, etc.

Although not the issue, yes, I agree.

There must be something wrong there. 3GB per day cannot possibly bring up the shaping flag op a 4Mb account.

I've noticed that with Axxess uncapped the internet was always useless during the day, it didn't matter if downloading 50GB or 500GB a month. Complaining about it didn't help, it's just the way they do things, if you want an uncapped account that you'll use during working hours going somewhere else is the best solution.

Interesting. I'm also on the 80%/20% system, but via OpenWeb. The month with the Steam specials, I did almost 200Gb and my internet kept going fine... full speed throughout to the end of the month. Other than that, I average about 50-60Gb a month.

I'm also on 4096k, but when I signed up with Openweb, the split was 80/20. I wonder if I've also been changed to 50/50. Although, like I said, I obviously haven't hit that yet.
