    Default Google blocking 196.2.126.17* ?

Here's a new one. Tonight, on trying to access some blogs hosted on Blogger, Google comes up with the "unusual traffic from your computer network" message for IP addresses including 196.2.126.176 and 196.2.126.175. In some cases, I get a CAPTCHA; in one case (the art history blog http://www.3pipe.net/), I simply can't access it at all. Here's the result of a tracert for that site:

    Tracing route to 3pipe.net [216.239.38.21]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

    1 40 ms 49 ms 39 ms lac6.jhb.wbs.co.za [41.213.16.1]
    2 71 ms 55 ms 39 ms iburst-41-213-1-2.iburst.co.za [41.213.1.2]
    3 67 ms 39 ms 39 ms 192.168.0.113
    4 71 ms 45 ms 45 ms pgw01-ge01.jhb.wbs.co.za [41.213.126.19]
    5 77 ms 49 ms 49 ms ge2-24.gw14.jnb6.za.mtnbusiness.net [66.8.42.21]
    6 111 ms 85 ms 123 ms 74.125.49.218
    7 305 ms 263 ms 259 ms 209.85.248.226

    10 286 ms 269 ms 265 ms 209.85.243.33
    11 292 ms 273 ms 265 ms 216.239.49.36
    12 * * 278 ms 209.85.255.126
    13 257 ms 372 ms 368 ms any-in-2615.1e100.net [216.239.38.21]

    Trace complete.

    Nice art there

I think the reason we getting some of these errors is because they are updating some of their systems. Not long ago (few days infact) they were doing updates to their transparent proxy server.

Try to clear all dns cache and try to switch between google or open dns server addresses to see if it reseovles the issue but i have a feeling they will still be busy seeing as the speed upgrades are also to take place this coming week and only ending after 6 weeks later.

The captcha thing also occurs on Youtube sometimes but haven't noticed last 2/3 days any warnings.

It could explain the Google issues I've been having... (link)

Instead of Google not loading, I've been getting these messages now (not homepage though). Sometimes with CAPCHA or, in the case above, just a message outright denying me access.

    Somewhat frustrating.

Which browser were you using? Did you use Google's search web page ( www.google.co.za ), or were you using a search toolbar?

You misunderstand. It is not search results that are blocked; it is pages hosted on Google's Blogger platform (many of which have a "blogspot" URL, but others, such as http://www.3pipe.net/ and http://www.dictionaryofneurology.com/ have their own domain names). I am following a link, using a browser bookmark, or typing the URL in myself. And it occurs regardless of browser - even on Google's own Chrome. Today, it is happening also with 41.213.71.195.

Oh, and the problem occurs even if I try to access the respective sites via Google search results (using http://www.google.com/advanced_search - I almost never use the basic search), and whether or not I am logged into a Google account at the time.

Oh, ok. I saw a similar message about "unusual traffic" sometime last week. I can't remember if I was using the search toolbar in Firefox or the Google search page, but I think I tried the other and the problem went away.

I've just tried now and I am able to open http://www.3pipe.net/ and http://www.dictionaryofneurology.com/ .
