    Disgusting
I disagree. When last did you hear of this many people being shot in a day? It was a terrible mess.

Anyway, we're all entitled to our opinions.

Opinions? When last did you hear hundred of illegally armed thugs charging armed SAPS TRT members after a one week stand-off?
I am sorry but if you cannot see this, you need your head read.

I don't care if you didn't agree with these strikers or whatever, just have some respect.

38 + people died. Of course they're going to have a ceremonial thing, it's kind of a big deal.
The horse has already been flogged to death but to summarise the bigger picture for you: 2 police officers were murdered (hacked to death) by unknown protesters whilst the officers where on duty and in the process of disarming them. That incident on its own should have triggered a massive reaction from Government to initiate drastic measures to subdue and break up the protest. I stand corrected, but I noticed very little reaction from Government on the latter, apart from some odd comment of the violence being condemned, etc; the police proceeded with a strategy to break up the protesters and disarm & arrest them systematically.

A day later a group of armed protesters in the process of being boxed and subdued by the police turn aggressive and 34 of them are killed by police gunfire. The Government, politicians & human right sympathizers immediately react with shock and horror to this incident and the President declares a week of mourning for the killing of the 34.

Indeed, we hate cop-killers, criminals, thugs, crooks, rapists, thieves and all other scum.

In 2011, 44 people on average were murdered daily in South Africa, according to Nathi Mthethwa. Where is your bleeding heart for them?

Yes it had occurred to me that more people are murdered every day in South Africa, a statistic that shocks and upsets me. But that is besides the point right now.

Certainly the policemen dying in such horrible circumstances was tragic, in fact this whole strike should have been contained at a much earlier stage.

But they were shot down en masse. And you want more! More!

I know the people were wrong to charge the police, but they were stopped in their tracks by automatic guns. So I think they've been punished enough.

Flags at half mast for these thugs?

I would be mightly pissed off if I was a cop.

Zuma my son, you need to learn where to actually have a bloody backbone. Your address should have said the flags will be at half mast for those police officers and innocent victims that were murdered by this mob, and that justice will be served and the ring leaders of the mob will be found and punished to the full extent of the law.

To say anything less than the above is an insult to this nation, your position and the hard working police service.

Sure they may have been thugs, but they died. I mourn any death even that of a thug.

    I will mourn their deaths.

The two security officers, that is, who were savagely hacked to death with pangas.

What about a national week of mourning for all the farmers who have been killed this year? What about a national week of mourning for the 12 year old boy that was drowned in boiling hot water just recently?

If you want to be mourned you need to vote for Zuma or be a union member.
