Hi guys

Got hit with the 7gig download this morning...MOP launcher added.
ASCII a stupid question... get a stupid ASNI.
There are some patch mirrors on wowwiki. http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors. It has the first part of 5.0.4
Not sure how it works, but from my understanding, since the updater changed the way it updates, manual files isn't available anymore.
Priester,
you can grab it of the WA ftp at:
http://ftp.wa.co.za/wage/Patches/Wor...art-1-engb.zip
It was downloaded from the "Player Attack" source mirror listed on http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors
As for where it should go in your WoW folder, I assume this screenshot below will give you an idea, my WoW is installed in d:\WoW\
I had a "can not connect to tracker" tracker issue, even though p2p downloading is disabled for me, to get the patch going, I used the method in this post to help me solve this problem:

Thanks mate
My WoW wants to redownload the patch, regardless of me having it at the right location, and a whopping 8.2GB at that. I even let it download 1.5GB, just in case only a little bit had to be redownloaded before it sees the rest of the data. I don't understand why, and several other people have posted about this issue on the BNet forums, without any solution forthcoming from Blizzard's side. I am so upset!
Has anyone here experienced that same and managed to get it sorted out?
After downloading off the ftp from home, I only had to download another 500mbyte, so it was 6.6gb in total for me, not sure why you have to download more, but it is possible maybe some of your older files were corrupt and it now just want to re-download that.

Perhaps, but it would be good to know what exactly it is trying to download. It doesn't seem to specify anywhere. I've only had WoW back on my PC for the past 3 weeks or so. What I did was:
- Did a clean reinstal, all the way through from vanilla followed by each expansion until Cataclysm. It took forever (and makes me wonder what were they thinking with vanilla WoW and BC on 4 CDs each?!)
- Noticed I had to download 13GB of patches, and decided no thanks, not on my 5GB per month cap.
- Copied a friend's WoW folder and merely tossed it over my current one, thereby replacing all the game files and updating it to the latest version.
- Been playing extensively for the past 3 weeks without any issues.
- Saw it wanted to download the 6.1GB patch for 5.0.4, and decided to prevent it completely (I only have a 5GB cap, so giant patch downloads at home won't be working for me)
- Drove to a friend yesterday, and copied the TempMig folder. When I got home, I saw that I already had the TempMig folder in my WoW root. Strange that, as I didn't download it, and definitely didn't copy it the first time from my friend's PC (I still have his WoW folder on my portable HDD, and the patch is not part of it).
- Started the Launcher. It had no problems updating the Launcher, but the moment the new version of the launcher started up, it wanted to dl around 8GB.
- Opened my WoW folder again, and noticed the TempMig folder was missing. I copied it back over, restarted my PC and everything, but it keeps wanting to download 8GB.
- My friend managed to download and patch his WoW without any problems whatsoever.
Perhaps I should allow it to download until it only requires around 5.9GB. I will need to buy more capacity though. Last resort is to go copy someone's WoW folder again. Sigh.
Didn't have any troubles updating to 5.0.4.
Just after the optimization had issues with going to Outland where the maps and textures wouldn't load. According to the WoW forums this could have been due to the files being compressed. Had to log in and wait 15 minutes in a location to get it loaded correctly.
patch 5.0.5 for us today
would patch 5.0.5 be included in the MOP retail installation?
