Christ-mass is NOT for Christians. Jeremiah 10.Is the 10 Commandments for Christians?
Saturday is the Seventh day, Sunday is the first day.

I cannot for the life of me think why Apple is going this route! Here is my gripe! It is damaging their brand!
1. They are expensive in South Africa.
2. They know it!
3. They are very limiting in their own space. Not being able to replace Safari in iPad is an example. You can run concurrent browsers but not remove Safari.
4. Their South African app store sucks donkey pee! Limited is an understatement!
5. The international one doesn't accept South African credit cards!
6. ITunes! Wtf! Why the hell are they so hell bent on forcing it down your throat!
My oldest daughter can now upgrade her phone. To see what options she has I took her to the shop to do some scouting. When we got to the iPhones her immediate reaction was "I hate iTunes! No Apple products."
We have two iPads in our household. My wife took over my iPad 2 and loves it. The iPad 1 is totally unused by the kids. Both hate using iTunes and the fact that they do not have full file control on the device and to the device. I use them in this "story" to illustrate that the coming generation of consumers are not keen on the Apple way of doing things and insist on more freedom. Apple is making tons of money off tech newbies amongst the older generations but they are already losing the next gen.

Every minute I stay in this room, I get weaker, and every minute Charlie squats in the bush, he gets stronger
lol... After my little outbreak yesterday I am informed by the wife last night that next year my girls school wants to introduce iPads for all pupils. *sigh* I have 2 daughters. Equals 2 iPads. Just hope the school gets discount rates or subsidises them or something.
I am all for introducing tech at school, but not to the tune of of R13k outlay. Especially when these things will be on the hit list for the school thieves etc... Looking forward to seeing how they plan on implementing this at the school and keeping theft at bay.
Maybe I should just hold onto this one I got now. Instead of selling it cheap then having to buy it again in 4 months.![]()

Like forcing a specific religion down kid's throats at school ... what if I insist that my kids be allowed to get the same education and apps on an Android tablet?
This actually reinforces my argument about what Apple is doing. A cult.
Fortunately my kids have seen the light!

For real? I am sorry...this is just vertraag! Rather strike a deal with a supplier like Sahara to get cheapie laptops with Ubuntu or Linux Mint on that they can actually use to do school work on etc. Or if you really must go the tablet route...go for a cheapie tablet? Why ON EARTH DO YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING AS EXPENSIVE AS IPADS FOR SCHOOL KIDS!!!???
Now why you loer en kyk gelyk?
Is ek miskien van goud gemake?
I know dude. I know ):
3 years and both girls are finished school so not long left to put up with school ***.
Unfortunately there are quite a few schools around Gauteng going the iPad route so I think a deal with Apple has been struck somewhere. Just waiting for more information to see what the school expects parents to fork out.
A Galaxy Nexus 7 would have been a far better option. I suspect that school book and curriculum software has already been written for the iOS platform though which is what is pushing it in this direction.

Mike, if Apple/iOS is indeed the platform prescribed by the Dept of Education or some similar organisation I would like to know how such a decision to benefit a specific brand only was taken. Was a study done? Was there a qualification process? This could become ugly.

Ye dude. I don't know much. Except for what the wife told me last night. It was mentioned in the latest newsletter. More info still to come.
Once I have more info, I will start a discussion thread.
AFAIK so far, this is only happening in some private schools around Gauteng. No gov schools as yet.

A smart school will go for an open platform where the kids can learn to code their own apps and sideload them.
