Thread: 8ta Sim to Sim airtime transfer

Default 8ta Sim to Sim airtime transfer

    Hi 8ta

A few months ago I purchased an Huawei S7 tablet that was on special, from 8ta, on contract. The contract is R50pm and I get R50 airtime. As I wanted to purchase the Go Big 3Gig bundle, I was told that I cannot add it to the contract sim but had to purchase a data sim card. This I had done and it has been working happily ever since. I have recently checked my airtime on the original contract sim and it has accumulated quite a bit in Rand value. Because I'm not using the contract sim, I thought I'd transfer the airtime from the contract sim to the data sim but it fails very time. I dialed *180# and went through the whole process, only to be told that the request failed.
My question now is, can I transfer airtime (rand value) from my contract sim to my prepaid data sim with 8ta?

    Your response is appreciated.
I have gone to find myself. If you see me before I return, please tell me to wait.

Doubt if you can transfer contract airtime. I think you can transfer what you have recharged after your monthly allotment has been used up.

    Hi Magandroid!

Please can you provide us with your contract number and data number so we can have a look at what the issue is? You should be able transfer airtime to that number. If you have already logged this - please provide us with your reference number

It is possible to transfer airtime if you are on a hybrid contract. On a normal contract, you will be able to transfer money to a prepaid customer as you get minutes and not airtime on our contracts,

So, is this the inclusive airtime you are able to transfer, or like the other networks where you can transfer only what airtime is filled extra?

    Hi all!

Apologies for communicating the incorrect information. We have been contacted by the product manager regarding the transfer of airtime.
We have been informed that only airtime which has been topped up onto a hybrid contract can be transferred. You will not be able to transfer your monthly inclusive airtime to a prepaid number.

Humblest apologies for that. If there are any other questions about this, please let us know.

Wishful thinking, but do you think there is a chance we can get this changed?

    Hi rodga

We can only but suggest the change which we will do. It is up to the product managers to make this decision.
