Apple says “iWin” to Samsung’s “iSteal”
You’d have to be an idiot not to see that Samsung stole from Apple. But the fallout is fun to watch, writes Khaya Dlanga.

Eish, another fanboy thread... Oh well, not much to do 'till the MotoGP this afternoon so where's that popcorn?

iFanboy article
TLDR and iDon'tCareTM if Samsung copied Apple's tracks and arrangement of SMCs and enclosed them in a rectangle with rounded edges, just make the frivolous court cases stop already.
Oh come now, lets not be denialists here, it's pretty obvious to anyone that has used an iPhone and an Android device (especially the Samsung S1/S2) that *many* (but not all) of the user experience elements were almost directly lifted from the Apple device. Hell, there were even discussions within Samsung (brought to light by the US trial) that they identified the areas they were lacking compared to Apple and were wanting to gain a bit more "parity" with what they saw as the more enjoyable (to users) device.
I can speak only for myself here, but I distinctly remember that I had never seen anything like the iPhone before from other phones. Some got close, most were nowhere near the experience, but up until that point phones were clunky, extending the functionality (through apps and via a unified store) was archaic (and yes, I know the SDK only came out a year or so later), getting a phone that was to be updated annually was unheard of (up until then phone manufacturers were responsible for rolling out updates - few did so as to not cannibalize future sales) and multi touch was a twinkle in someone's eye up until Apple made it mainstream. They defined what the smartphone was to be, and almost everyone, who up until that point was trying to mimic the BlackBerry experience - thinking that was the way to go, suddenly started copying the Apple concept and tons of "me too" phones started popping up. Everyone with half a brain could tell you who they were trying to copy, so lets not get any funny ideas here.
That said, Apple never built their device in a vacuum either, so it's not like they can't be blamed for stealing some ideas from others. One can argue the icon layout was just a natural extension of the desktop/Finder/File Browser window that existed in previous operating systems, and that the overall design was highly reminiscent of prior products as well. By now everyone knows the Great Artists Steal line that Jobs used - probably mischaracterizing the meaning, but whatever.
proof read much?
that's why i don't drive a ferrari. They don’t choose Samsung products because they believe that they are superior, but because they are not Apple products.

Khaya, you're a dumbass. Your article is so biased, it's not even funny.

Samsung stole? I'm pretty sure those are "Android" features not something Samsung came up with. This is Apple having it out with Google and Samsung being a made an example. Does anyone still remember a company called Fingerworks? They had a nifty multitouch touch-pad called iGesture. Apple had that cake and ate it. It wouldn't surprise me if Artlebedev gets sued over their Optimus Tactus.
