Default Eskom power supply under strain

    Power stations are “ageing”: Eskom

Eskom has revealed that the power supply is under strain as the company tried to attend to a maintenance backlog

Don't make your problems our problems.

Whose fault is it that equipment wasn't maintained regularly? Blame that on the fatcat CEO's who wanted to cut overheads and make a quick bonus in the bargain as well.
Christ-mass is NOT for Christians. Jeremiah 10.
Is the 10 Commandments for Christians?

Saturday is the Seventh day, Sunday is the first day.

Don't forget fulfilling AA quotas by pensioning off anyone who knew anything about the industry, especially people who made a politically incorrect noise about lack of expansion plans.

Eskom’s power stations are ageing and have been run hard in the past few years in order to meet demand.
Well for the price we pay you nowadays, you'd better run them harder.

Totally agree with ^ (... but be aware that your post will be criticised by some here, as being racist, whereas it is actually realist)

No **** sherlock! That's what happens if you don't maintain something. It doesn't automatically maintain itself!

That is correct sir, paying yourself fantastic bonuses does not make the power stations work better.

Unfortunately if Eskom go down they simply shrug ... and the Government shrug along with them ...

If there are SLAs (service level agreements) I have never heard of them being enforced via fines or similar ...

Maybe selling electricity to BHP Billiton below cost and making a loss of R5.5bn has something to do with this:

Why don't we have solar farms in SA? Here in Germany farmers make a lot of money by selling solar power, so much so, that normal farming is not worth it, in some cases (pig farming). Most the small towns also have solar panels on their roofs, making them independent from the power suppliers, and bringing in more funds for the town by selling power back to the grid.

The SA government do not have any political will to accomplish anything ...
