Google Inc. has not submitted a new Google Maps application to Apple Inc after the iPhone maker dropped the use of it in launching its newest device, the head of the world’s top search engine provider said on Tuesday.
So, no new app was submitted because Apple dropped the use of Google maps?

Not quite "no new google maps for apple" though, what he actually said:

We have not done anything yet,” Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt told a small group of reporters during a visit to Tokyo.

We’ve been talking with (Apple) for a long time. We talk to them every day,” he added.
Important parts highlighted, I take that to mean there will be a Google Maps, it's just not yet finalised.

Kinda makes sense. If Google did not withdraw the previous version, why would they submit a new version.
    It all Apples doing.

Maybe I'm a bit naive but why should Google submit a new app for Apple's benefit?? Apple has clearly lived up to Job's wish of going thermonuclear on Android and its manufacturers.

Then again, I'm sure Google would benefit somehow if they created a new map app for iOS.

It's a good question. The YouTube app (which Google immediately released after Apple dropped the IOS5 one) can now display ads, so Google benefits.

Maps? I don't know if they can display ads in it?

Think Google is way to busy with their new 3D tech to care about a dedicated mapping app for iOS right now. They probibly recon the usrs can live with Google Earth for now.

Interesting to see how may of the 5million Iphone 5 users actually use their Phone GPS on a regular basis and how they are coping with the IOS Maps

Well, apparently Apple Maps is better than Google Maps in certain areas. Just depends where you come from
