I like Ubuntu lots, but the poor integration of the default email client with Exchange and the lack of a Photoshop like Ubuntu alternative put me off. Still run Ubuntu 11 in windows via vmware, cause I like for some stuff.
1. Ubuntu 12.10 now includes Gimp with single window mode...just saying that is almost as good as a native photoshop on Linux.
2. Thunderbird with some work with davmail and a few thunderbird plugins works okish with exchange.
I personally also prefer a different window manager, so I use the Ubuntu minimal installer iso and build my desktop up from scratch.

GIMP is nothing like Photoshop for advanced editing and web graphics authoring. I tried running Photoshop CS3 under Wine, was unuseable no matter how I tweaked the setting, never tried Exchange though. Also had frustrating compatibility problems between LibreOffice and MSOffice, especially Powerpoint files. Really enjoyed running Netbeans and the whole LAMP dev environ under Ubuntu, so much better than Windows!

I run my exchange mail with Thunderbird. Works fine.

The local South African mirror servers have been synced. Update Manager or the command 'do-release-upgrade' should now give you the option to upgrade.![]()
I love ubuntu for its flexibility and makes for a great development platform especially in a LAMP environment. Will definitely check this out when it is released.
