Vodacom is upgrading its LTE network to boost the peak speeds to consumers with MIMO technology

Can you give us some samples of commercial routers or others devices supporting MIMO technology ? And would they work correctly with Vodacom infrastruture ?

MIMO is a standard technology for LTE, all devices should support this. 99% of device chipsets support it.

stupid ad - i don't think ppl will get it - especially the cheesy bit at the end where the judges raise their scores.

This development is further evidence that the launch was rushed

Jannie, would you agree, the LTE launch was premature? Honestly, from the outside it looks like Mr Joosub pushed for the launch for some positive press exposure. Based on the size of the present LTE coverage and the fact that there are still basic configuration tweaks underway(SISO to MIMO), you are still in R&D/trial mode. I speak under correction but from my mini research on the web it appears MIMO has been available for a while now, even for HSPA+ networks.

    From the web:
The smart antenna technology Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MIMO ) is considered essential for LTE to maximize system capacity and provide high data rates. Both 2 transmitter x2receiver designs and 4 transmitter x 4 receiver designs are being considered. The modulation schemes on the uplink and downlink differ. The uplink will be Single-Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-DFMA), a OFDM variant, and the downlink is OFDMA.
