    How secure is the cloud?

Cloud technology has taken off in South Africa, although there are still those who believe that it is still early days

Remember the day Google was down for several hours. Remember the day the international cables broke. Remember the last time some idiot put a backhoe through your local Telkom cable. Remember the day some poephol stole a bazillion credit card numbers. And whatever became of my data on Megaupload.

I've noticed that the only people that use the term the 'Cloud' is usually the Client or Marketing.
And anyone from DR or Security Audit get this glazed look when they hear the term.

    Yup. Perfectly OK.

Entrusting your data to people you've never met, stored in a place you've never been to nor ever could, protected by passwords you've given to others ... should be fine.

Just make sure you have a local backup.

Oh, and another thing: clouds are misty, wet and cold.

    Is the cloud really secure?
Interesting question. In the same vein, I propose the following articles/threads:

Are my drunk, slutty photos really private if I paste them all over Facebook?
Will people really stop bullying me if I make a Youtube video about how hard it is to be a rich, pretty first-world girl who gets bullied all the time?
Is it really safe to get candy from the creepy old man's van?
