From the Gautrain FB page:

Gautrain will be introducing three new bus routes during November, while several existing routes will be optimised. These enhancements are as a result of continuous customer feedback regarding Gautrain’s bus services which is reviewed and evaluated by the Gautrain’s monthly bus service committee. The changes will enable the Gautrain to better serve their customers, while also attracting new users.

The revised routes are aimed to be implemented from Monday, 26 November 2012, pending approval from the relevant authorities. Routes and stops from the following stations will be introduced:

- Park Station to Johannesburg CBD – new stops to be added at Marshall & Harrison streets; Boston College, Marshall street; Absa Bank, Marshall Street; and Reef Hotel, Anderson street

- Rosebank Station to Killarney – new route

- Rosebank Station to Melrose Arch - new stops to be added at Sascoc in Atholl Oaklands

- Rhodesfield Station to Emperors Palace - new route

- Midrand Station to Noordwyk - new stops to be added at UNISA SBL, Janadel Avenue; 6th & 5th Roads; 6th Road opposite Shell garage; 14th Road & Skurwerberg Street

- Midrand Station to Sunninghill – new stops to be added at Maxwell Drive & Allandale Road as well as at Waterfall Estate Hospital

- Centurion Station to Technopark – new stops to be added at Eco Fusion; Nellmapius Drive & Sand Street; Denel Irene Campus, Nellmapius Drive

- Pretoria Station to Pretoria CBD – new stops to be added at Nursing Academy, Struben & Lilian Ngoyi (formerly van der Walt) Streets; Sisulu (formerly Prinsloo) & Johannes Ramokhoase (formerly Proes) Streets; Francis Baard (formerly Schoeman) & Du Toit Streets; Francis Baard (formerly Schoeman) & Meintjies Streets; Troye & Park Streets; Kotze & Jubilee Streets; Kotze & Inez Streets

- Pretoria Station to Groenkloof - new route

- Hatfield Station to Queenswood – new stops to be added at OR Tambo Building, Soutpansberg Street; Soutbansperg & Gordon Roads

At Emperors Palace, a park-and-ride facility will be introduced where passengers will be able to park their cars at the facility and board a Gautrain bus to Rhodesfield Station. Gautrain management has stressed that while it values feedback from customers, naturally it is not possible to implement every suggestion and request received.

Great news. Thanks. I saw the gautrain stop boards in Midrand and waiting for the service.
Now i will use Gautrain.

I wish they can also optimise the hathfield bus routes especially the Arcadia route. By going around few block adding 2 stops they can cover around 5000 employes working in betrix street, and hamilton streets.

Are these new bus routes active? I do not see the buses in new route in Midrand?
Has it been implemented anywhere else?

According to the Gautrain people, the Gauteng Pronvincial Government has not yet bothered to approve the new bus stops/routes. I have this picture in my head of the government officials rolling up their weed in the Gautrain's memos and puffing away on the magic dragon whilst we all wait endlessly for the new bus stops to be route markers where Gautrain buses actually do stop.

And still, no routes serving the north-eastern areas of Centurion. It's pathetic. Lyttelton, Die Hoewes, Lyttleton Manor, Kloof, Clubview - nothing. Sigh. They obviously didn't listen to all the feedback they got.

I offer you condolences. I worked in Lyttelton for 6 months, I understand why the buses don't want to go there.

I can see why they are struggling. They don't service the suburbs where people that mostly use the train.

True but there would also be lots of people that would use the Gautrain buses in the areas the buses currently cover if Bombela stopped charging a higher price for people who do not use the train.

Considering the shortage of decent public transport in this country, surely it would make sense to allow everyone to use the Gautrain buses for the same price and effectively absorb the Gautrain buses into a public transport system that just happens to have bus stops at the Gautrain stations.

IMHO the Gautrain should never have operated its own buses to start with, what should have happened from the start is that competing bus companies should have been allowed to stop at the Gautrain stations and establish routes of their own.

In theory, maybe. But in practice we have the current situation in Pretoria that the municipal bus services have been completely suspended, mainly due to the very poor management.

True but I did post competing bus companies for a reason: the Gautrain bus drivers strike is still fresh in my memory along with the handguns and shots fired in Centurion & Midrand by the striking bus drivers not to mention the knife and petrol bomb on one Fourways route bus at Sandton station.

Then they would be competing directly with the taxi's - not a good idea. Firstly the violence that may happen if they do and secondly the people on the Gautrain wouldn't really want to travel with the people that makes use of other public transport. (People are snobbish like that). You can take a Putco bus in to very close to the station almost everywhere except maybe the airport, but you don't see people taking those busses do you?

There should be zero tolerance for taxi violence, that is more a rule of law issue and obstacle placed in the way of progress by lazy+corrupt law enforcement officials.

Admittedly I would not use a Putco bus as I know how reckless those drivers are and I have had some very close shaves with them trying to run my car off the road. However, there were several Gautrain bus drivers in the previous batch (that embarked on an unprotected strike) that drove just like taxi drivers.

Anyone knows how far this is? I still only see them using the old routes.

So the new Gautrain routes will go live on the 25th. Hope this launch works out.

They said we should check the routes on their website but it is still the same on there.

Smells like another premature announcement to me.

I have to question why the 25th considering that a lot of people will probably be invading other provinces during that week.
