Hi fellow SysAdmins,

I have a client, that need's to upload about 500GB - 1000GB to their cloud solution.

Unfortunately consumer ADSL isn't cutting it, which is what they have access to now. I don't want to take the data to one of my fibre-clients, as I feel that's conflict of interest.

Money isn't a problem (within reason), and I even thought to rent a dedicated server for a month, and use it to upload the data, since upload speeds at the data-centre will suffice. But there is a lot of paperwork involved, and not enough time.

Does anyone know of different solution? My clients are willing to pay per-GB upload if that is what it takes.

Hetzner truserv plus dedicated server gives you 1TB traffic in a month for R1395. You are allowed to plug a external harddrive into the machine for "backup purposes". So you could get one of those, no paperwork, set up within 8 hours. upload your files and then cancel the service once you're done with it.

one of the advantages to do this in a local "southafrican" enviroment is that you can do the first upload with a external hard drive.

1-2TB hard drives are quite cheap lately, and you can easily take it directly to them or as last resource, ship it (fedex, dhl or similar).

To upload that much over the internet will take forever...
