On the radio Telkom says even their biggest critics admit they are the "best broadband", and on their website with the new prices (@ www.bestbroadband.co.za) they only quote SACM (South African Computer Magazine) as saying they are value for money. Surely we are their biggest critics, did we say they were the best broadband?
They certainly are the only fixed line broadband thus that makes them the best and also the worst in that field...

Aah well.

I think the SACM article may have used come of our research for their article…I remember something like that. I still stand by what we have said in the report, but the relevant issue raised is whether one should compare wireless with wired services. It is however at least partly relevant in the SA context as people have to make a choice between providers…wireless or wired.

When they control the upstream, they can always offer the `best value'. Despite the fact that it is poor value. `Best' is relative...
One can only laugh at these people. Every day they pat themselves on the back.
Its the same as if there was only one make of car in SA and it is breaking down once a week with a 3 liter tank and a top speed of 10km/h. The only other transport is motorcycles. How can you compare?

Look, we all know that telkom patting itself on the back about broadband is utterly pointless. If I want ADSL what are my options? Err... telkom and ....?
So how they can say they are the best broadband provider and feel so proud is beyond me.

Take note of item F-IV. Does self install now cost MORE than having a Telkom Technician come out to hook you up??
What happened to the ICASA feedback on Telkom's "proposed" reductions? Does this now mean ICASA have accepted the new tariffs or is the decision still pending - thus Telkom went on its merry way and implemented them?

Yeah. If memory serves, Telkom advertised their new ADSL plans on their website and in the press, and there was some fine print reading "Pending ICASA Approval"Originally Posted by bwana v.14
For ADSL I had a choice between Telkom, Telkom and Telkom, so I chose Telkom because they're the best of the three.Originally Posted by rpm
For wireless I had actual options. But these are not a replacement for ADSL because none comes close in price.
