In two years time 3G cards will be freebies with "every pack of Kellogs" (Who still remembers that era?)

Vio, if I recall correctly, the competition commission did nail the networks for locking mobile phones. I would suggest that this issue be taken up with them. Vodacom's infantile behaviour only serves to create a disgruntled set of customers, no amount of Super 14 marketing can help that (especially the way SA teams play).

It is time that SA companies learned to compete on service, quality and price - not on till death do us part contracts.

Vodacom can make all the excuses in the world. They did it for the exact same reason as when they used to lock phones! --> $$$$$$$$$$

There are easy ways to unlock networke locked phones and data cards. I have done it before with an MTN phone.

There are plenty of sites out there explaining how to do this.

But its stupid that Vodacom locks the card in the first place!

Simple yes but like you said it shouldn't be necessary.
