Is Ubuntu spyware??

This thread just refers to the Unity dash search. That feature is definitely against user privacy. This is available in the default Ubuntu's interface called Unity, but of course, you don't have to use the default Ubuntu.

In fact its not recommended even.

This has been spoken about already in this forum :/ Old news is old news.

General rule of thumb. Ignore anything Richard Stallman says. That is all.

In non-related news, Richard Stallman stopped listening to "Every breath you take" by The Police because it promotes spyware.

Thanks for educating me. We cannot ever assume that everyone knows everything. Luckily, I can't even use Unity if I wanted to as my lappy is wayy too old for that. Even so, I never liked Unity anyhow. I had it on another laptop and soon got rid of that shell and reverted to plain vanilla Gnome.

So boring. Gnome3 rocks :D

Hahaha. Not on my laptop it doesn't. It boots into a solid blank screen as there is no hardware to render even Ubuntu 12.10's vanilla stuff. Luckily, I make out with my wife and not with my laptop. I just do my work and do emails on my laptop. It has no need to try seduce me. As for eye candy, where I live is so beautiful you won't need any smart desktops as you'll wanna be outside in the first place. :)

For the record, in MakuluLinux we mostly removed that feature in Dash, I dont know why it was added in the first place, it just bloats the OS ...
