Inactive Yahoo IDs up for grabs

You will still have to pay me to use that crap.

I received a notification that mine will be de-activated. Didn't even remember I had one! I duly recovered my password, and what a surprise to see all those historic e-mails! People I have worked with, dates arranged, relationships that started and floundered, parties arranged and even an e-mail from an ex-wife. Oh, and with all the lottos I have won since I logged I can now happily retire!

Was a good trip down memory lane, but Yahoo can give the account away. Yahoo mail is not a match for gmail.

I can't eve think of any of my acquaintances who has a yahoo account. I had one probably 15 years ago

I wish Facebook would do the same... I have lots of inactive friends on there and when calling them they say they forgot their passwords and then decided to create a new account.

I can imagine that the provisioning of unique e-mail addresses is going to become a major problem within 10 years time. I had to create a couple of Gmail accounts the other day for some relatives, and all permutations of their not-at-all-common names were taken up.

Looks like Outlook.com has become a leader in the this space.
