Been a while since I last got a monitor.

My current 23" samsung decided it was time to go into a DVI...VGA...DVI stooper  Just lookup samsung swiching off, its what is happening to it.

It comes on shows DVI, quick flash of the picture then it goes black, but red led stays on showing there is power. I've tried differant cables and differant cards, but always the same thing. This does seem to be a known thing for that specific model (p2350 I think).

Now before that samsung I had a LG which funny enough is still working, small, but working unlike the samsung :erm:.

Anyways so which ones are good? I'm looking for low latency if that still matters for gaming... which I think still does.

Thanks.

Problem: although that monitor has low latency, it's IPS and that's just not good for gaming on.

Necuno, what's your budget looking like?

Nonsense... I have an imported 27" IPS monitor from korea. Basically same spec as that wootware model. My gaming experience is fantastic... And I have had many 2ms LG / Samsung 23" and 24" 1920X1080 LCD & LED models. If you beg to differ I dare you to a round of HC TDM on Black Ops 2 ;)

Unfortunately for you a round of CoD will prove nothing since I suck at fps.

Firstly I should mention that after having read through very long forum threads on the Korean monitors (I had considered getting one myself) many users have discovered that their so-called IPS displays are actually TN models labeled incorrectly by the manufacturers, so I have no difficulty believing you're having a lag -free experience.

Secondly, John Carmack says TN is better. So I win. (although in the end it comes down to personal tolerance levels, I suppose.)

Jassaaas the gauntlet has been thrown.

so my wife got me a Xbox and GTA V for my birthday last week. :) i am running it on my daughter's hisense TV. The picture can be better as it is not HD. Will the information in this thread be valid in choosing a monitor for the XBox ? as i want to get a new one.

Mine is a well known genuine IPS screen...

Best thing for an xbox is a big plasma.

i am running the TV on HDMI. Its an LCD i think. i have a Samsung Monitor as well from the PC. Will VGA work better than the TV, or should i just invest in a smallish HD TV ? does one get HD monitors (i know very little about these things)

EDIT : sorry for possible derail

VGA <> HDMI
HDMI = DVI

LoL .... IMO, FPS games are fast moving and really show the performance in a monitor... Dont you CoD any more Grey??

EDIT: obviously a decent GPU helps!

:) I haven't played since GTA came out... pretty hooked.

Most monitors over 22" are HD these days. I just know that playing xbox on my 51" plasma is way better than playing on my 24" samsung PC monitor... I had to move the xbox to my PC room to get internet to it...long story.

I got myself an AOC monitor saturday and I must say it has got a fantastic response time and the DCR is amazing! I was very lucky to find one...:D

I will be buying one of those Dell 27-inch IPS monsters at the end of the year. I decided that after using one for 5 minutes on my home PC. It has all the connections you could want, is beautiful in terms of colour and for gaming it is amazing. Dota, BF3/4 and anything else I threw at it was made to look more impressive than anything I have ever seen on any other monitor. And don't get me started on movies, even SD movies looked far better on the Dell than they do on my AOC HD monitor.

But be warned, you need a serious GPU to play at 2560x1440, even my GTX 680 was only getting 70fps in BF3 on Ultra with 8xAA and 16xAF.

Thanks for the replies!

I do apologize for no budget, I was looking at 2-4K with the aim to spend a round 3k. As I've said its been a while and normally I would gone one that says "2ms" :o :D

Is it worth while to get an 120mhz one?

I'll check out the IPS ones :)

Thanks!
